Foresters sign Shakamak standout

Friday, May 3, 2013 - 7:59 pm

Huntington University men’s basketball coach Ty Platt has added another standout to one of the strongest recruiting classes in Forester history with the recent signing of Shakamak High School senior Brodie Crowe.

After averaging 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per outing during his senior season, the 6-foot-2 guard wrapped up his outstanding prep career with over 1,000 career points and a plethora of awards and honors.

“We are excited Brodie is becoming a Forester,” Platt said in a release. “Brodie is a very good shooter, an intelligent player, a good athlete and has a passion and love for the game."

In addition to earning All-Conference honors, the Jasonville native was also an Associated Press Honorable Mention pick and member of the Greene County All-Tourney team. He was the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week in February and earned MVP honors at the 2013 HBCA All-Star game.

Crowe has also garnered plenty of attention around the state, having been recognized as an IBCA Top 100 Underclassmen as a junior and one of Indiana’s top 60 seniors according to Hoosier Basketball Magazine.

“Brodie is the type of player and person that fits what we are all about at Huntington," Platt said. "We fully expect him to have an excellent four year career.”

In addition to his success on the hardwood, Crowe has also excelled in the classroom where he is an academic letter recipient and member of the National Honor Society.
