Do you want to start your own herb garden this spring? Do you know which herbs grow best? Do you need a little something different to freshen up your favorite salad or cookie? The News-Sentinel stopped out at the annual Settlers Herb and Perennials Plant Sale to speak with organizers of the sale, get a sneak peek at the varieties of herbs available there and learn more about their growth patterns and common uses. Click here to check out our photo gallery on knowing your herbs.

You can also stop out at the sale Friday and Saturday to buy plants and learn what will work best for your garden. Held in the basement of the Swinney Homestead on the edge of Swinney Park, the sale includes herbs at $2 a plant, while most flowers are sold at $4 a plant.
