Founded in 1944 as ICON Exhibits, the company creates exhibits for trade shows and museums as well as permanent installations. According to the application, phase one of the project will include a 200,000-square-foot, $6 million facility, possibly followed in 2017 by a 100,000-square-foot, $4.5 million addition. The project also includes about $1.3 million in new equipment. The new facility would serve as Group Delphi's Midwest Division headquarters, the application states, and construction could begin as soon as January, with completion of phase two scheduled for late 2017.
Currently, the company has about 35 employees with a payroll of $1.5 million.
Phase-ins, formerly called abatements, temporarily reduce taxes owed on new buildings and equipment. County Council could consider the application as early as next week. If approved, the company could save about $1.07 million over 10 years.
