You still have time to place your bid in the auction of two playhouses to benefit Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity's home-building program. The playhouses, which stand 9 feet tall and measure 8 feet long and 6 feet wide, will be on display through Friday in the parking lot on the east side of J.C. Penney at Glenbrook Square, Coldwater Road and Coliseum Boulevard, a news release said.

The houses were designed and constructed by STAR Bank and Fort Wayne Habitat staff and volunteers, the news release said. The playhouses have unique color schemes and features, but builders left the interiors unfinished so the new child “owners” can decorate them as they wish.

The auction of the playhouses is taking place on eBay. Go to www.fortwaynehabitat.org/ playhouses-for-habitat for information and a link to the auction.

Fort Wayne Habitat will deliver the houses to winning bidders residing within a 60-mile radius of Fort Wayne, the news release said. Winning bidders who live farther away must pick up their playhouse or pay for delivery.

Fort Wayne Habitat is a nonprofit, ecumenical ministry that uses volunteers to build low-cost homes for families who may not be able to afford to buy a house on their own. Completed homes, which are valued at about $60,000, are sold to Habitat program participants, who go through homeownership training; put in “sweat equity” on their own home and other Habitat projects; make a $500 down payment; and pay off an interest-free mortgage loan.
