NEW PARIS — Authorities say a northern Indiana man was hospitalized after a sheet of ice and snow fell from a passing semitrailer and crashed through his windshield.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says 38-year-old John Hollon of Warsaw was driving a box truck eastbound on U.S. 6 near the town of New Paris when the snow and ice broke off of a westbound truck and into his windshield Thursday morning .

The sheriff's department says Hollon was taken to IU Health Goshen with several cuts to his face and a possible concussion.

The Elkhart Truth reports no tickets were issued at the scene.
