Keion Brooks Jr. named All-American by MaxPreps

North Side Legend is part of sophomore second team

North Side sophomore Keion Brooks Jr. was named as part of MaxPreps' Sophomore All-American team Thursday.

Brooks is part of the national website's second team. They honored first, second and third team selections with the top 15 sophomore players in the country. The website also noted several honorable mention selections.

Brooks Jr. averaged 20.5 points and 7.4 rebounds during his second high school season and helped lead the Legends to a Class 4A state final game against Ben Davis.

Joining Brooks on the second team were New Jersey's BryanAntoine, Virginia's Armando Bacot, New York's Joseph Girard III and Michigan's Romeo Weems. The first team was made up of MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year R.J. Barrett from Florida, Minnesota's Matthew Hurt, North Carolina's Wendell Moore Jr., Alabama's Trendon Watford and California's LaMelo Ball.

Tyger Campbell of LaPorte LaLumiere was part of the third team, the only other player from Indiana recognized in the top 15.
