Six area girls prep basketball players selected for annual top 60 workout

Hoosier Basketball Magazine has released their annual list of top 60 girls high school basketball players for the state. The top 60 workout will take place on Sunday, March 5 at Heritage Christian High School.Homestead leads the way with three of the eight players selected that will play in state championship games this weekend. Seniors Karissa McLaughlin, Madisen Parker and Jazmyne Geist all will participate.

Other players selected from the area are: Snider's Kyla Covington, Canterbury's Mason VanHouten and Concordia Lutheran's Shania Kelly. Whitko's Brianna Cumberland and Aly Reiff will also participate.

Statistical evaluation, game observation and statewide research were conducted all season and throughout the state tournament to determine Hoosier Basketball Magazine's Top 60. Two sessions of the 36th annual Top 60 Senior Workout will be hosted by Hoosier Basketball Magazine in conjunction with the IHSAA and the IBCA.

Coaches Rick Risiniger (Heritage Christian), Sarah Black (Union City), Brad Burden (Providence), Tom Downard (Indianapolis Ritter), Rodney Fisher (Gary West) and Gary Teel (Argos) will run the workouts with Risinger acting as the director of both sessions. Both sessions are open to the public for admission fee of $8.00 ($5 for students).
