Komets defenseman Will Weber is playing in tonight’s Game 2 after taking a high stick to the face in the third period of Friday’s Game 1. He’ll be wearing a cage to protect his nose which has about a half-inch gash on it.

“I thought it was my eye at first because everything went numb, and once I realized it was my nose I was OK,” Weber said. “The nose is already beat up. It happens, it’s part of the game.”

He didn’t need any stitches, and was hoping to return to the game.

“The problem was I couldn’t stop the bleeding or I’d have come back right away,” he said. “Earlier in the year I already did that, and every time I bump it, it bleeds pretty good.”

The ECHL ruled today no further discipline was needed on the play.
