Komets' practice observations

First thing, playoff tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday... If the Komets have the home-ice advantage in the first round, the coliseum is looking at April 14 and 15. Everyone would prefer not to play on Easter, April 16... I think we're going to see a pretty good weekend of play. The Komets are working on some new systems, and everyone in practice was paying strict attention to everything Gary Graham was saying. I'm not going to go into details, but it's my sense that everyone understands this is the time to pick up their play and buckle down. There was definitely increased focus and attention to detail. Maybe losing to Indy on Friday was a good wake-up call... Rookie defenseman Ryan Lowery is listed in his college stats as being 165 pounds, but that's not true. He's actually 175 and very solid. He's built like a bulldog (Not a Ferris State joke), and reminds me of a college wrestler build. He can really move the puck and doesn't get pushed around as much as you might suspect... Cody Sol missed Saturday's game after taking a shot off the foot during the morning pre-game skate, but he's back and looks ready to go full-tilt... New nickname for Will Webber should be "tank" because that's what Gary Graham said he resembles a few weeks ago. He's big, solid, dependable and nothing seems to dent him. Makes sense... Bobby Shea looks close to 100 percent after coming back from a knee injury. He's working a lot with Lowery... Dan Milan said he's symptom free, but he's still on injured reserve until next weekend. That's not a bad thing because he's played a lot of hard, heavy minutes this season... Had a very interesting discussion with Mike Cazzola today which will work into a future story.
