Ken Tolbert and Company jazzes up lunchtime at Indiana Tech

Jachell Tolbert, aka Lady J, sings the rhythm and blues songs Sade's "Ordinary Love" and Mary J. Blige's "Love No Limit" at Indiana Tech's Lunch Box Music Series on Wednesday. Tolbert was accompanied by her husband's Ken Tolbert and Company, which played classic and modern jazz. Behind her is Quinton Walker on synthesizer.

Indiana Tech's Lunch Box Music Series provided free live jazz to the public at lunchtime Wednesday by Ken Tolbert and Company. Tolbert's group – Tolbert on keyboards, Jamont Simmons on drums and Quinton Walker on synthesizer – played classic and modern jazz music, with vocals on a few numbers from his wife, Jachell, aka Lady J.

The next performance in the series will be soul numbers from singer/songwriter Mitch Clark 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. April 19 at the Multi-Flex Theater in the Academic Center building at Indiana Tech, 1600 E. Washington Blvd. The building has cafes where food is sold.
