UPDATED: Restaurant Notes extra: Grabill Inn to close Dec. 30

After 43-plus years Candy DeCamp is ready to retire and close the Grabill Inn. The last day will be Dec. 30.
“We don’t go into this decision lightly,” said Dick Paris, her brother-in-law, who is helping to answer phones and do other things during the transition.
“We appreciate all the support over all the years we’ve had,” Paris said.
That includes customers and current and former employees.
Grabill Inn, known for its down-home cooking, is for sale including the building and parking lot, Paris said. Whether is stays a restaurant will be up to whoever might buy it, he said.
DeCamp, and her late husband, Skyler, ran the restaurant and raised their children around the business.
Their daughters Nicole DeCamp and Sara Clark have grown up at the business. With Candy DeCamp’s grandchildren getting older, Paris said, it was time for her to retire.
The restaurant had also added barbecue and pizza that have a following, Paris said.
