Fort Wayne’s Women in NAACP group will hold annual Black History Month Brunch on Feb. 24

The local Women in NAACP (WIN) group will host its annual Black History Month Brunch at 10 a.m. Feb. 24 at Samuel A. Walker Center, 1151 Francis St. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the event is open to the public.

The keynote speaker will be Paula Autry, the new CEO at Lutheran Hospital, an event news release said. The theme for this year’s event is “Women in Hats” in honor of important African-American such as Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King and Dorothy Height, who often wore hats.

WIN works to enhance the leadership role of women; advocate for issues affecting women and children; and to promote the positive development of children, the news release said.

“WIN believes that now is a time when coming together is more important than ever,” the news release said. “The challenges facing our nation require us to strengthen our bonds and sense of common unity for the benefit of all.”
