Spring women’s fashions feature several traditional feminine touches; here’s what Macy’s and Dress Barn are featuring

Flowers may just be emerging from the ground, but plenty are appearing in this spring’s women’s fashions, which have many traditional feminine elements: ruffles, lace and embroidery.

Beatriz Garcia, store manager for Dressbarn, 1034 Thomas Road, showed off the latest trends recently to a group of women on International Women’s Day.

Garcia says clothes this season have bell sleeves and floral patterns. Spring is all about color, which Garcia said will show up in olive, coral, mint and fuchsia.

You’ll be seeing spots with lots of polka dots. Dressbarn has a black stretch pant with white polka dots that comes in sizes 2-24 and starts at $24.50.

Pearls will be at play, and not just in a statement necklace. They’re being used as accents such as buttons. Also, Dressbarn’s $34 pearl trim luxe super stretch ankle pants have three pearl accents going down both sides near the bottom.

Embroidered jeans are another trend. Dressbarn’s Westport Signature Fit Distressed Embroidered Crop Jeans comes in a light-wash denim with pink roses near the right hip and lower left ankle in sizes 4-16 for $19.99. Plus size and petites are also available.

Macy’s, which has a store at Glenbrook Square, has spring looks available at the store and on Macys.com.

Why have a little embroidery when you can have a lot? Macy’s is selling William Rast Embroidered Perfect Skinny Jeans, for $97.13, before its 30 percent-off offer, which has a floral motif undulating down both sides of the legs.

Walmart doesn’t leave the embroidery just on the bottom. Several of its tops on Walmart.com feature embroidery including Time and Tru tops with orange flowers; the black and white tops have sold out. The navy and coral fire tops are still in stock in limited sizes for $14.44 each.

Bare shoulders continue to peek out. Walmart’s French Laundry Women’s Embroidered Mesh Yoke Cold Shoulder Top, a navy top with a floral design, is sold out except for size small for $9.88.

Macy’s Lauren Ralph Lauren Floral-Print Twill Shirt, for $89.50 before the 30 percent-off offer at Macy’s.com is reminiscent of a book of botanical illustrations and comes with Latin names in the pattern.

Many of Macy’s Jill Jill Stuart items have ruffles galore. The striped Cold-Shoulder Flounce Dress statement shirtdress has a faux wrap with ruffle detail, costs $159 and runs from extra-small to extra-large.
