Maenerchor/Damenchor to host spring festival March 23

The Fort Wayne Maennerchor/Damenchor is “Celebrating its 150th year of German Culture through Song” and will host a variety of evets this year, starting with the Fruelingsfest (Spring Festival) on Saturday, March 23 at Park Edelweiss, 3355 Elmhurst Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the evening will begin at 6 p.m. with an authentic German Schlachtfest (Bratwurst) dinner with sauerkraut and all the trimmings. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children.

The dinner will be followed by a choral concert with 35 voices of the Ft. Wayne Maennerchor/ Damenchor, directed by Thomas Remenschneider, former director of the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic Chorus. A highlight of the evening is the presentation of winners of an essay contest for local high school German students answering how knowledge of German heritage/culture has impacted the student. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded.
