Grant awardHorizon Bank announces the recent grant of $2,500 to the Harlan Christian Youth Center, Harlan. The money will provide supplies and help aid activities in throughout the year. 

Walmart #1804

The Allen County Walmart facility #1804 has awarded Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry $2,500 for its "Meat" the Need Program. 

Local grants awarded

The St. Joseph Community Health Foundation awarded the following local grants from November 2015 through the end of the year. Grants are: Assuring a Quality, Affordable Healthcare Network (Unrestricted Funds): Matthew 20 Health and Dental Clinic, $105,000 and $125,000; Super Shot $50,000; Carriage House, $30,000 in 2015 and 16. Connection People to Health and Wellness Care (Unrestricted Funds): SoulMedic-Remedy LIVE, $30,000; Allen County Jail Chaplaincy, $15,000 and YWCA Northeast Indiana/Hope House, $18,750. Integrating Refugee and Immigrant Health (Unrestricted Funds): Catholic Charities, $8,500; Center for Nonviolence, $17,500; Lutheran Agency for Missions to Burmese (L.A.M.B.), $20,000. Promoting LIfe-Affirming Prenatal and Infant Care (Unrestricted Funds): A Hope Center, $45,000 and Lutheran Social Services, $10,000. Frederick J. Pfeiffer Fund - in Honor of Charles F. And Henrietta Eckart Pfeiffer for Medical and Surgical Equipment: Fort Wayne Community Schools, $10,932 and Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center, $580. Blessed Catherine Kasper Award for Outstanding Service to the Poor: Heart of the City Mission Foundation, $1,500 and Homebound Meals, $1,500. 

Waynedale Lions Club

The Waynedale Lions Club has teamed with Waynedale Elementary, the PTA and other local organizations to buy a local child in need a pair of shoes with every adult dinner sold at an upcoming fundraiser. The fish dinner and desert bake sale will be 4-7 p.m. Feb. 11 at Waynedale Elementary, 720-1 Elzey St. Tickets are $10 adults pre sale and $12 at the door and $6.50 children. Advance tickets can be purchased until the event at Jim Springer Elder Law, 7111 Old Trail Road; The Waynedale News, 2505 Lower Huntington Road; and at the school.
