Just when you got a taste of spring last week with temperatures in the 60s comes news that The Stand “Coneys & Ice Cream” has reopened for the season. It started serving Monday at 5200 Bluffton Road.Hours for the first couple of months will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. The Stand offers take out, delivery, catering and outdoor seating. Call 747-7300.

Skyline Chili still on horizon

Jeff Grothouse, owner of the upcoming Fort Wayne Skyline Chili restaurant has reported on Facebook that selection of a site has taken a little longer than expected.

“I am in the final stages of working out lease agreements on our chosen location,” he wrote on Facebook. “My next update will be sharing the Fort Wayne Skyline Chili address with you!”

The franchise serves Cincinnati-style chili and started in 1949 when a Greek immigrant opened his restaurant in that Ohio city. Indiana has nine Skyline Chili restaurants, but all are in the Indianapolis and southeast Indiana border area.

B.J.’s Brewhose coming in April

The lights were on, so we knew somebody was home last week when we passed by the B.J.’s Restaurant Brewhouse under construction at 245 W. Coliseum Blvd. in front of Glenbrook Square. The B.J.’s Fort Wayne job website said the restaurant expected to open in April.

In addition to handcrafted beer it will serve its signature deep dish pizza, salads, steaks, ribs, pasta dishes, and Pizookie desserts, with a small round tin containing a flattened cookie like a pizza and topped with ice cream.

Starbucks sign up

Starbucks is certainly no white whale and West Jefferson Boulevard is close to getting another freestanding store on the south side of the road. We’ve been watching it go up for months.
