Street Chef, a new food truck, is serving sandwiches with Fontanini meat, just like you'd get in Chicago.
Italian sandwiches, barbecue pork and chicken, as well as side dishes and beverages are available. Owner Eddie Ribel repurposed a former school bus and added a kitchen and order window. Ribel, who graduated from Ivy Tech in 2002 with a degree in culinary arts, rolled up to Thursday's Lunch on the Plaza at Freimann Square. For more information, call 443-9836, send email to CallingAChef@yahoo.com or visit Street Chef's Facebook page.
If you missed it
We wrote a story last week about the quiet opening of the 07 Pub, 3516 Broadway. Owner Marcus Spillson and his business partner, Clancy Shank, are serving a limited menu — appetizers, pizza, salads and such — while they get going. The pub's name pays tribute to the 46807 ZIP code. Right not it's open 3-10 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 3 p.m.–“late” Friday–Saturday. For more, see http://07pub.com.
Skyline Chili yet?
We've seen your pleas on the Skyline Chili Fort Wayne Facebook page that have been met with silence: “When's the opening ???,” “Please, please, please tell me you'll be open by July 22nd,” and “I'm ready I work behind you at Pepsico, can I get a frequent flyer discount?”
We know you are more than eager to get a taste of Cincinnati here, so we're keeping our eyes open as the store goes up at 4037 Ice Way. Skyline has been hiring since May 1 so it shouldn't be too much longer.
