The Turnstone Flyers sled hockey team won a national championship this weekend at the 2017 Disabled Hockey Festival in San Jose, Cal. There were 12 adults and three youth divisions, with Turnstone competing in the Adult Sled Patriot C Division. The Flyers won five games, beating the RIC Blackhawks of Chicago in the championship game 5-0. It was the third shutout on the tournament for goaltender Gary Hunt who hadn't had one all season.

The Flyers finished the tournament 5-0 as Kevin Hughes led them with six goals and 13 points, Randall Konger scored eight goals and Dylan Sullivan nine points. Other team members included Amos Gross, Avery Straub, Matthew Kwapis, Tanner Pfeiffer, John Pfeiffer III, Peter Mitchell and Noel Klein.

This is Turnestone's second national championship in four years after the Flyers won a 2014 title in Buffalo.
