Flash flood watch issued for Allen County and surrounding areas; flash flood warning for area rivers

The Spy Run Creek flood gauge is nearly out of notches aroung 9:15, Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio, including the following areas, in northern Indiana, Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Miami, Wabash, Wells, White, and Whitley. In northwest Ohio, Allen, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam,and Van Wert.

The watch is in effect Saturday morning through Sunday evening.

Heavy rainfall of 2 to 5 inches is expected through the watch area as remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon move into the region.

A flash flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana for the following rivers:

The Salamonie River below Warren affecting Blackford, Huntington, Jay, Wabash and Wells Counties; the Auglaize River near Fort Jennings affecting Allen, Ohio counties Paulding and Putnam; and the St. Marys River near Decatur affecting Adams, Allen and Van Wert County, Ohio.
