Daughter writes humorous obituary for father in Indiana
DEMOTTE, Ind. (AP) — An obituary written by a northwest Indiana woman has received thousands of shares on social media for its unique style.
Jean Lahm honored her father’s memory with a bit of humor because she says her father, Terry Ward, “lived to make other people laugh.”
Lahm says she began writing the obituary Tuesday after Ward suffered from a massive stroke. He was 71 when he died.
In the obituary for Ward, Lahn mentions Miracle Whip, Hamburger Helper and a zombie apocalypse, and paints a hilarious portrait of “an everyday guy” who loved humor as much as life itself.
Lahm says she had no idea it would go viral.
She says she’s read comments from others saying “I wish I would have known him.” She says she’s just happy to have been able to “get his personality across.”
