Woman detained after man was shot
Fort Wayne Police were questioning a woman after a man was shot Monday night.
At 10:38 p.m. police were called to a home in the 9600 block of St Joe Center Road on a report of a shooting. Officers found a man inside the home who was suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police spokesman Chris Felton. The man was initially determined to be in serious condition, and was taken to a local hospital where he was downgraded to critical condition, but he later was upgraded to stable condition, according to Felton.
Initial information indicates the man and woman were inside the home, and something happened that caused the woman to shoot the man, according to Felton. Police don’t know what led to the disturbance and the shot(s) being fired, or what the relationship is between the couple. However, police don’t believe they are familiar with each other, according to Felton. Investigators are also working to determine if the two live at or are associated with the home, and if anyone else was present. Detectives were questioning the woman at the police station about what happened.
Detectives were to go door to door to search for anyone who may have seen anything or have any information. Crime scene units will be processing the scene, searching for and collecting any evidence.
After the investigation is complete, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office will decide if any charges are appropriate, and what those charges would be, if so, according to Felton.
This incident remains under investigation by police and the prosecutor’s office.
