Arrest made in death of local coach Henry Underwood was identified in a surveillance photo.

Police arrested a man Wednesday night they were seeking as a suspect in the city’s most recent homicide.

Fort Wayne Police made a traffic stop and arrested Henry Eshon Underwood, 23, whom detectives had identified as a suspect in the shooting death of Terrance Miles, according to police spokesman Michael Joyner.

Miles was killed early May 19 in the 900 block of Francis Street. According to online records, Underwood was booked into the Allen County Jail at 12:23 a.m. today on charges of a felon carrying a handgun and false informing.

Miles’ body was discovered after officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area. He was an administrative assistant at Forest Park Elementary School and an assistant football coach for North Side High School’s team.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office ruled his death the 11th homicide in Allen County in 2017.

Police say Underwood is one of two men seen in a surveillance photo that was released to the media. Detectives used tips to identify Underwood as a suspect, police said.

Underwood was considered armed and dangerous, according to information that police had released.
