Crews respond to Stellhorn office fire

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to an office fire at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 3400 block of Stellhorn Road, according to a report.

When crews arrived, they found heavy fire and flames through the roof of several offices. Fire had extended to the roof and office space of an adjoining occupancy, but crews quickly saved two additional adjoining occupancies while fighting the fire.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries or casualties, and the building suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage. The fire is under investigation. <br>

The Foster Park Golf Course will be closed through today because of flooding. Conditions will be monitored and the course will reopen when it is suitable to play. <br>

The Metropolitan Human Relations Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday at its office, 2310 Parnell Ave. The public is invited to attend. <br>

<center> Pup Crawl 2017 </center><br>

Lakeshore PAWS will hold its annual summer party and fundraiser 5-10 p.m. June 17 at Valparaiso Central Park. Admission is free and there is no requirement to bring a dog or take part in the walk.

Friendly dogs are welcome to participate in the 1.5-mile walk through downtown. Music is provided by the Crawpuppies.

<center> Active living workshop June 13 </center><br>

Health by Design and the Indiana State Department of Health in collaboration with Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program will present a workshop June 13 to help the city of Fort Wayne and Allen County become a healthier and more active community for all ages and abilities.

The active living workshop for community leaders and advocates takes place 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 13 at Citizens Square Omni Room, 200 E. Berry St.

The group will conduct an informal walk audit to assess the condition and accessibility of sidewalks and street crossings and prioritize built environment strategies to encourage active living in Allen County.

Presenters are Kim Irwin, executive director of Health by Design; Kate Riordan, active living program manager at Health by Design; JoEllen Vrazel, active living consultant at Health by Design; and Pete Fritz, healthy communities planner at the Indiana State Department of Health. <br>
