Two dead in Bluffton Road crash SUVs collided head-on, police say.

A head-on crash this morning on Bluffton Road has claimed the life of two people.

According to Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Stone, the crash occurred at about 4:20 a.m. today in the 15000 block of Bluffton Road, north of Yoder Road, where two vehicles had struck each other in a head-on crash.

Stone said a male driver’s red SUV was southbound on Bluffton when it went left of center and struck head-on a gray Saturn SUV that was going northbound on Bluffton with another male driver.

The driver of the red SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was listed in critical condition at press time.

The driver of the gray Saturn SUV was airlifted to a local hospital and later died. Police did not identify any of the victims.

Crash debris scattered in several directions for several hundred feet, resulting in the closure of Bluffton Road for about six hours.
