Fourth of July fireworks event set for downtown
The city of Fort Wayne announced Indiana Michigan Power Center downtown will be the location for this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show at 10 p.m. July 4.
Lutheran Health Network and Old National Bank will sponsor the fireworks display.
The Fort Wayne TinCaps will host a baseball game, beginning at 6:05 p.m. Attendees will be able to enjoy the fireworks from their seats in the ballpark. If the game is not completed by 10 p.m., the fireworks will begin immediately after the conclusion of the game. <br>
<center> Woman charged with theft of U.S. mail </center><br>
A woman has been charged in federal court with stealing U.S. mail from mailboxes after it had been delivered, according to a criminal complaint.
Erin E. Clowser, 34, of Fort Wayne was charged with theft of U.S. mail, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft in U.S. District Court Northern District of Indiana and made her initial appearance in court Wednesday.
The criminal complaint alleges that on or about November 2016, the United States Postal Inspection Service began receiving complaints of mail theft from the 46845 ZIP code area. Clowser allegedly, took both mail that was delivered before it could be picked up by the respective owners and mail that was outgoing in boxes with the flags up before it could be picked up by postal carriers. Once the mail was taken, Clowser allegedly converted stolen checks for her own personal use. Clowser allegedly obtained a debit card belonging to another individual, and from March 2017 through April 2017, used that debit card to make unauthorized purchases and ATM withdrawals totaling over $50,000.
Any individuals or businesses located within the 46845 ZIP code who suspect that their mail may have been stolen between November 2016 and April 2017 are urged to report such information to the Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455 or the FBI at 1-317-595-4000. <br>
<center> Boys & Girls Clubs celebrate graduations </center><br>
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne will host a graduation event in honor of their teen members who have graduated in the Class of 2017. Approximately 40 teens and their families are expected to attend the celebration 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the 2609 Fairfield Ave. Senior Adrianna McNab, recently named Indiana’s “Youth of the Year” by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, will also the honored.
The celebration will include a brief recognition program as well as music provided by D.J. Lionel Hogen and food. <br>
<center> Man charged with vandalizing, robbing coin machines </center><br>
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Milford Police Department have arrested a man for allegedly vandalizing and robbing five laundromat and car wash coin machines last month, according to a police report.
Mychal D. Loper, 27, of Warsaw, was charged with theft and criminal mischief for allegedly vandalizing and robbing the coin machines after police responded to a call May 30 at Hometown Laundry, Milford, in which a male subject was seen on surveillance footage breaking into numerous machines and stealing.
