FWFD photo contest promotes ‘Fun in the Fort’ All kids have to do is take a picture of something fun to do.

A collaboration between a Fort Wayne business and the Fort Wayne Fire Department will make 20 children very happy this summer, and all they have to do is have “Fun in the Fort” and submit a photo celebrating the fun.

On Thursday morning, Fort Wayne Fire Chief Eric Lahey and firefighters from Station 6 were on hand to accept 20 bicycles – 10 girls and 10 boys – from Cummins Sales and Service that will serve as prizes for children under the age of 18 who submit a photo for the “FWFD Photo Fun in the Fort” contest.

The premise is simple. Take a photo of something fun to do in Fort Wayne, and email it to fwfdfuninthefort@cityoffortwayne.org by noon June 26.

Make sure the body of the email includes name, age, email address and phone number (mobile preferred for texting).

Winning photos will be selected by Lahey and Fort Wayne Police Chief Steve Reed, and winners will be notified by email and text by 4 p.m. June 27. The bicycles, assembled by Cummins’ employees, will be available for pickup between noon and 6 p.m. June 29 on the west balcony of the Ed Rousseau Building, 1 Main St.

“The city of Fort Wayne has a lot of fun things to do and we want to acknowledge that,” FWFD Deputy Chief Adam O’Connor said.
