FWCS staff to visit families this evening

Fort Wayne Community Schools staff members will visit families throughout the district 4:30-7:30 p.m. today to connect with families and to remind parents to preregister their students online.
This is the sixth year FWCS staff have visited families during the summer, and the first time staff are trying to visit all homes on the same day, a FWCS news release said.
“This is a fun day for staff and for our families,” FWCS Superintendent Wendy Robinson said in the news release. “Children love to see their teachers, assistants and principals arrive at their house, and families appreciate that our staff members care enough to take time during their summer break to visit their neighborhoods.”
Parents of current FWCS students can preregister for next year now through July 21 at the MyFWCS parent portal on the district’s website, www.fortwayneschools.org, the news release said. Families still will have to attend in-school registration at their children’s school(s), but preregistering online will allow them to go through the Rapid Registration line.
In-school registration will be 8 a.m.-1 p.m. July 28 and noon-7 p.m. July 31, the news release said. Parents will need to bring a photo ID and two proofs of residence.
Families of students new to FWCS must register at the Family & Community Engagement Center, 230 E. Douglas Ave., the news release said. Center hours for registration are 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, but open until 7 p.m. Wednesdays, and 9 a.m.-noon July 29.
