Injuries reported in DeKalb County truck crash

Two men received slight injuries in an rollover accident Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 69 in DeKalb County, according to a police report.

Police report a 59-year-old Auburn man was looking down at his radio at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday while driving a 2004 Ford F150 truck southbound on Interstate 69 near the 336 mile marker. When he looked up, he was unable to slow down to avoid a collision with a 2008 C-Hawk trailer being pulled by a 2002 Ford F150 truck.

The 2004 Ford F150 truck hit the right rear side of the trailer with the front of his bumper causing the 2002 Ford F150 truck and trailer to leave the road. As the truck and trailer left the road, the 2004 Ford F150 truck then struck the passenger side of the 2002 Ford F150 truck with his front bumper, causing it to roll over, coming to rest on its roof.

Richard Nietert, 70, of New Haven, was trapped inside his truck and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of pain and bruising to his chest and arm. The Auburn man complained of leg pain.

Police report the Auburn man’s Ford truck suffered an estimated $5,000 in damage, while Nietert’s Ford F150 truck and trailer were a total loss.
