A Fort Wayne man faces two preliminary charges after allegedly stabbing another man at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the Hallmark Inn, 3703 Washington Blvd.

Malcolm D. Robinson, of the 1100 block of West Washington Boulevard, was charged Monday in Allen Superior Court with battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

Robinson and the victim reportedly got into an argument, and Robinson allegedly threatened to kill the victim and pushed him, causing the man to fall and hit his head on the cement, a probable cause affidavit filed in the case said. A witness reported seeing Robinson raise his hand up and hit the victim, and then seeing a bloody knife in Robinson’s hand and the victim bleeding from under his left arm.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was reported in good condition, police reported.

A witness told police the stabbing suspect was an African-American man with a beard who was wearing all-black sweatpants and a white tank top, police reported. Police located Robinson, who matched that description, walking along Maumee Avenue near Glasgow Avenue and stopped him.

Officers took Robinson back to the Hallmark Inn, where a witness allegedly identified him as the man who stabbed the victim, police said.
