Fort Wayne woman formally charged with knife attack on pregnant woman

A woman who allegedly stabbed a pregnant woman in the back at a party Sunday has been formally charged with aggravated battery and two counts of battery.

The charges were filed Friday in Allen Superior Court against Shiqualla Wright, 28, of the 7600 block of Hope Drive.

Wright, who allegedly was drunk, reportedly had gotten into a fight with her twin sister at the party and also attempted to fight with some of the other women at the party, a probable cause affidavit filed in the case said.

While in the kitchen, Wright reportedly grabbed a knife and charged to the living room, where she allegedly stabbed a woman who is pregnant in the left side of the back, the affidavit said. The victim reportedly had been bent over talking to Wright’s twin at the time of the attack.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, the affidavit said.
