A homeless man has been charged with the robbery of a Family Dollar store last week.

Harold W. Jackson, 39, was charged Monday in Allen Superior Court with one count of robbery, a Level 3 felony, according to court documents.

Jackson allegedly entered a Family Dollar store on Sept. 20, wearing a mask and pointed a BB gun or airsoft pistol at two Family Dollar employees, demanding money and threatening to shoot them, according to a probable-cause affidavit.

Since the safe was on a delay, Jackson, allegedly took $200 from the register and fled the store. An officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department was on the north side of the property and saw him run past and engaged in a pursuit. A witness who saw Jackson hiding in some bushes held Jackson at gunpoint until officers arrived, the affidavit said.

One of the two employees made a positive identification after she was shown a photo array, telling police she memorized his features despite his mask.
