Woman reports armed robbery in Fort Wayne apartment
A woman told Fort Wayne Police that she was robbed Monday afternoon by a gunman inside her Eden Street apartment.
An officer responded at 3:24 p.m. and met the woman in her apartment’s leasing office, in the 2100 block of Eden Street, according to a police report. The woman appeared shaken and was crying. She told the officer the following, according to the report:
About 10 minutes beforehand she was in her apartment and awaiting someone, so she had left her apartment door unlocked. She was about to get food from her microwave when she saw her apartment door was open. The woman said she saw a man who pulled out a gun, pointed it at her and said, “Give me your money!” She said the gun was black and gray and had 9mm on the side of it.
She said she gave the man money that she had in her pocket and went down to the floor and covered her face until the man had left her apartment. She said he did not take anything else and left her apartment.
She described the man as wearing a light-gray sweat shirt with the hood on his head and darker gray sweat bottoms. She said he appeared to be a skinny black man, without facial hair and had a low-fade hairstyle. He was in his mid-20s and about 5 foot, 6 inches tall. She said he appeared to be the same man she had seen sitting under a pavilion all day.
Video footage showed the man running from the woman’s apartment building with another black male who was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and black shorts. A third person who appeared to be acting as a lookout ran off with them.
The woman said she did not want police in her apartment and did not want the other residents in the complex to know that she had called the police to report the robbery.
