Interstate traffic to slow beginning Monday
Motorists can expect rolling slow-downs and ramp closures on Interstates 69 and 469 beginning on or after Monday, Oct. 23, weather permitting, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. The slow-downs will allow contractors for American Electric Power to remove and replace cables over the interstate just south of Dupont Road.
A series of slow-downs will take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Monday with the assistance of law enforcement. The slowdowns will be on I-69 southbound from mile marker 320-315; I-69 northbound from mile marker 311-316; and I-469 westbound from mile 27 to 31. The slow-downs will reduce speeds to 20 mph or below. The operation will also require the temporary closure of several exit ramps: from Maplecrest Road to I-469 westbound; from Dupont Road to I-69 southbound; from Union Chapel Road to I-69 southbound and from Coldwater Road to I-69 northbound.
Electronic message boards will alert motorists of the rolling slowdown. Drivers may wish to seek an alternate route.
