Fort Wayne death ruled homicide; victim identified

A man found dead late Thursday night in the front yard of an Oxford Street home has been identified and his death ruled a homicide.

Charlie DayJohn West, 22, of Fort Wayne was found at at 11:07 p.m. with gunshot wounds in the 2400 block of Oxford. Paramedics pronounced West dead at the scene.

He died as a result of gunfire and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

His death remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the coroner’s office.

His death is the 28th homicide in Allen County in 2017.
