Robbery at Fort Wayne Metro PCS store investigated

Fort Wayne Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery Thursday evening at Metro PCS, 1005 Coliseum Blvd. E.

According to a police report, the following allegedly occurred:

A police officer responded at 8:40 p.m. to talk to an employee of the business who said a man came in and postured as if he had a gun in his pocket and demanded money. The employee described the suspect as a male black with a dark, hooded sweat shirt with the hood up and covering his face.

An employee of a nearby store reported seeing the thief run westbound toward the BP gas station at Coliseum and Parnell Avenue. She described the man as wearing dark pants and a black, hooded sweat shirt with white lettering on the chest and sleeves. She said the business’ security cameras may have recorded the incident.

A police officer who viewed the video reported the thief could be seen walking westbound behind the building before the robbery and then briefly walking eastbound in front of the thrift store. About three minutes later, he was recorded running westbound in front of the thrift store and then eastbound behind the strip mall while carrying what appeared to be a brown cardboard box under his right arm.

The Metro PCS employee showed a police officer several dollar bills, saying that was all the suspect hadn’t taken.

Several police officers assisted at the scene along with K-9 officers, who conducted a K9 track.
