Investigation continuing into shooting of three women early Thursday in Fort Wayne
The survivor of a triple-shooting early Thursday remained hospitalized in critical condition as of mid-day Monday and Fort Wayne Police Department detectives continue to follow up on leads in the case, said Fort Wayne Police Sgt. Jim Seay of the department’s public information office.
One woman was critically injured and two women died as a result of the shooting reported at 4:05 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of East Sherwood Terrace. When they arrived, Fort Wayne Police officers found the three women suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and lying in the front yard of a home, police reported last week.
The Allen County Coroner’s office later released information on the women who were killed. Both deaths were ruled homicides and resulted from gunshot wounds.
Nicole Marie Saylor, 36, of Fort Wayne, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office news release said.
Kayla Marie Harris, 24, of Fort Wayne, was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, the news release said.
The women’s deaths were the 32nd and 33rd homicides this year in Allen County.
Police believe the women were targeted and weren’t random shooting victims, Seay said last week.
