Addison Agen fans didn’t have to wait long to see if the Fort Wayne native made it through to next week’s live show on “The Voice.”

Addison, 16, was the first contestant announced as saved by viewers, whose votes now decide who stays and who goes home on the NBC vocal talent show.

Within the first few moments of Tuesday night’s broadcast, host Carson Daly said he would announce the first three contestants saved by overnight viewer voting from Monday night’s show, the first live show of the season.

He said the first contestant saved was a member of Team Adam, and then after the usual pause to build suspense, he announced, “Addison Agen.”

Addison and the other Top 12 finalists each performed Monday night, with Addison singing “She Used to Be Mine,” by Sara Bareilles.

After each contestant sang, one or more of the celebrity coaches — Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton — offered comments on the performance. Then it was up to the viewers.

Through all of the previous weeks, the celebrity coaches picked who among their team members advanced to the next round of the competition.

The live shows will continue now through the season finale on Dec. 19, with contestants performing at 8 p.m. Mondays and viewer overnight voting results announced on a show at 8 p.m. Tuesdays. “The Voice” airs locally on Fort Wayne’s NBC, Channel 21.2.

Results shows the next few weeks also will feature an Instant Save, where the bottom two artists in overnight voting will be announced. The two then will perform, and viewers are given 5 minutes to use Twitter to vote for which of the two will advance to the next week’s show.

Both of Addison’s Team Adam teammates – Adam Cunningham and Jon Mero – ended up as the bottom two in the voting and had to sing the songs they sang Monday night. Viewers saved Adam Cunningham.

The first results show of the season also featured group performances by Hudson and her team members, Shelton and his team members, and Adam Levine and his music group Maroon 5.

All Top 12 finalists also performed in a music video with stars from the new movie “Pitch Perfect 3,” which is scheduled to open nationwide Dec. 22.
