Fort Wayne Police Department Public Information Officer Michael Joyner has announced that the FWPD have identified and arrested the suspect in the robbery and shooting on Thursday at the Meijer Gas Station on Lima Road.
Victor Manual Rivera, 21, was taken into custody on Friday morning when investigators noticed him walking in a trailer park off Washington Center Road. Rivera has been charged with murder, felony murder and robbery causing serious bodily injury.
In a release, Joyner said that “Rivera was, in large part, identified due to the public’s willingness to provide credible information to investigators when his likeness was portrayed on all local media outlets.”
The FWPD reported early Friday morning that they had detained a person of interest in the shooting.
Officers were called to the scene around 8:15 Thursday night. Information indicated the suspect was trying to rob the gas station when the shooting happened. Another employee was working at the time of the shooting and was not hur and there were no customers inside.
The suspect was originally described as a white man, approximately 17 to 20-years-old, with a thin build, and approximately 5’8” to 5’11” tall. He was wearing a red long-sleeved Air Jordan T-shirt, black baggy jeans, black shoes, and a black stocking cap with yellow writing on it. It was not immediately clear if the person of interest that has been detained is the suspect.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release identity of the victim.
