1 dead in Ferguson Road crash, Fort Wayne Police say

One person is dead after his car drove into the path of a pickup Monday afternoon, according to Fort Wayne Police.

At around 12:15 p.m. police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ferguson Road and Tenth Street on a two-vehicle accident involving injuries, according to police spokesman Michael Joyner. Officers found an unresponsive male in a passenger car that had sustained heavy driver-side damage. Medics and Fort Wayne firefighters treating the victim pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, the pickup, did not have any injuries.

Investigators have determined that the pickup was westbound on Ferguson when the victim, who was on Tenth, drove south directly into the path of the truck and was broadsided, according to Joyner. Ferguson was closed between Airport Drive and Tenth for about two hours as investigators processed the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by police, the Allen County prosecutor’s office, and the Allen County coroner’s office.
