UPDATED: Salvation Army still in need of help to reach its holiday fundraising goal
The Salvation Army is asking people to consider giving to the ministry during the holiday season because its donations currently are down significantly from what was hoped, the ministry said in a news release.
The local Salvation Army set its red kettle campaign goal at $255,000 and overall Christmas season fundraising goal at $600,000, said Capt. Luis Acosta, of the Salvation Army’s Fort Wayne Community Center.
The donations fund social-service programs offered throughout the coming year, including a food pantry and utility and rental assistance, Acosta said.
You can make donations at wherever you see a Salvation Army red kettle and bellringer, or by going to donate.salvationarmyusa.org.
In addition, gift distribution times for people who were accepted for the Adopt a Family, Angel Tree and Toys for Tots programs will be 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, all at 1320 Production Road, the news release said.
