Man killed in fiery Woodburn crash identified through DNA
The Allen County coroner’s office has released the identity of a man who was killed in a fiery October crash in Woodburn.
Robert Wayne Bruss, 38, of Antwerp, Ohio, is the driver who was killed Oct. 30 in a single-vehicle crash in the 26000 block of Gore Road, according to the coroner’s office Friday, which notified Bruss’ next of kin Nov. 22.
Because of extensive damage to the body from the fire, the coroner’s office had to await DNA results before making a positive identification. News-Sentinel.com requested the information late Thursday.
The cause of Bruss’ death was determined to be blunt-force injury and smoke inhalation from the crash and was ruled an accident, according to the coroner’s office.
Bruss’ death is the 34th traffic fatality in Allen County in 2017.
