Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect the addition of a show.

Tickets for Fort Wayne teen songstress Addison Agen’s Welcome Home concert Jan. 21 at Embassy Theatre sold out in 2.5 hours Thursday, so a second show will take place later in the evening.

The historic theater, 125 W. Jefferson Blvd., had 2,400 tickets available for $25 and $10 each for the show at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 21, said John Hughey, Embassy marketing director. A second show will take place at 8 the same night. Tickets for that show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 4 at the STAR Bank box office at the Embassy, ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800.745.3000. Tickets for that show also are $10 and $25.

It just shows how popular the 16-year-old runner-up on Dec. 19 of this season’s NBC vocal talent competition “The Voice” is in her hometown, he said soon after the first show sold out.

Agen, a junior at Concordia Lutheran High School, will perform music from her first album, “New Places,” which she released at age 13, as well as some of her newer music and possibly a few songs from her performances on “The Voice,” her father, Morrison Agen, who is coordinating publicity and details for the Embassy show, to News-Sentinel.com.

She also will sing the national anthem at the Fort Wayne Komets’ New Year’s Eve game at Memorial Coliseum.

Hughey didn’t have a breakdown of how many tickets the Embassy had for each price but said the majority of them were set at $10.

“That was very important to us that families could attend together,” he said.

About a dozen people braved the near-zero temperatures to wait in line at the theater ahead of the 10 a.m. ticket offering, Hughey said. The theater opened the lobby doors at 9:30 a.m. so they could wait inside until the tickets went on sale, he said.

Those who have difficulty buying tickets online the day they’re offered should refresh their browser several times, Hughey said. It took him six times of refreshing to get through to a seat online Thursday morning, he said. The tickets that online users were choosing were quickly going into the carts of other online purchasers, so clearing the cache will allow them to get the next available ticket.
