A juvenile who showed up at a hospital with a bullet wound Thursday night is believed to be connected with bullets fired into a Colony Bay Apartments unit where two children and a man were inside.

Fort Wayne Police responded at 9:30 p.m. to several calls into 911 communications to report a large commotion in the area of Colony Bay Apartments, 6416 Covington Road, according to police spokesman Michael Joyner.

Officers learned that gunfire had occurred at an apartment where officers saw an apartment door had been damaged by several rounds shot through it, according to Joyner.

A man and two small children inside the apartment were unharmed. The man said at least three gunmmen had come to the apartment, but it’s not clear who fired the shoots or what might have been the motive for the gunfire, according to Joyner.

As officers were investigating they learned that the juvenile had showed up at a hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was determined to be in stable but serious condition. Police are continuing to investigate the incidents, which investigators believe are connected, according to Joyner.
