Flags at half-staff Monday for Fort Wayne Guardsman’s funeral

Gov. Eric Holcomb is directing that flags in Allen County be flown at half-staff sunup to sundown Monday to honor Indiana National Guardsman Sgt. 1st Class Mark Boner.

His funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Boner, 43, died Saturday at Fort Hood, Texas, while training as an automated logistical specialist in preparation for a deployment to Kuwait. The military has not disclosed the cause of his death.

Holcomb also asks county businesses and residents lower their flags to half-staff to honor Boner and his service to the community.
