2 drivers escape serious injury in Allen County crash
A two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Tonkel Road caused one vehicle to roll onto its top but did not seriously injure either driver, according to police.
at 9:10 a.m. a blue 2008 Ford SUV driven by Loretta N. Sassmannshausen, 50, of Fort Wayne was traveling eastbound on Vandolah Road, approaching the intersection with Tonkel Road, according to Indiana State Police Master Trooper Brad Shultz.
The Ford entered the intersection and struck a northbound 2017 Audi driven by David W. Bohren, 72, of Leo-Cedarville. The Audi then left the east side of the road and went into a ditch before striking a tree, according to a news release. That caused the Audi to roll onto its top. Both vehicles’ airbags deployed and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, which lessened their injuries, according to the release.
Sassmannshausen was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, and Bohren refused medical treatment. Sassmannshausen was also cited for failing to yield the right of way, according to the release.
