Crescent-Coliseum blocked by critical injury crash

An early-morning crash Thursday at Coliseum Boulevard and Cresent Avenue left one man in critical condition, and alcohol may have played a role, according to Fort Wayne Police.

Officers responded at 4:02 a.m. to a report of a personal injury accident at the intersection. Emergency responders found two men inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash, according to police spokesman John Chambers.

Paramedics took them to a local hospital, where one was listed in critical condition and the other in good condition.

The driver of the other vehicle is believed to have minor injuries, according to Chambers.

Investigators say one vehicle was going southbound on Cresent and the other vehicle was westbound on Coliseum when the crash occurred, and they believe alcohol may be a factor in the crash, according to Chambers.

Motorist are urged to use an alternate route while the entire intersection will be closed in all directions while the scene is processed. It remained closed at 7:30 a.m.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
