McKinnie Street fire damages home

Fort Wayne Fire Department investigators are looking into the cause of a Thursday morning blaze.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at 8:44 a.m. for a fire in the 1500 block of McKinnie Street, according to a news release. Crews arrived in 3 minutes and found smoke was coming from the one-story home’s roof. An adult had gotten out safely, according to the news release.

Firefighters went inside and found the blaze was in the kitchen wall and it had extended to the ceiling of the home. The fire was extinguished by 9 a.m.

The fire department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority and the American Red Cross, which assisted the home’s occupants, according to the release.
