A man suspected of the shooting deaths of two women, one of whom was pregnant, now faces a third count of murder in the case.

Deyante Antuan Stephens, 26, of 8704 Beacon Woods Place now faces 3 counts of murder as well as a charge of firearm used in the commission of an offense, according to online court records.

When a probable cause affidavit was filed Monday in Allen Superior Court, Stephens faced two counts of murder, but police said more charges were possible. Additional charges were filed Thursday.

Police officers were called at 6:41 a.m. Saturday to a home in the 1200 block of Lillie Street. Officers found Preonda M. Jones, 37, of Fort Wayne, dead in a bathtub that had bullet holes in the back and bottom of it, according to a probable cause affidavit. Brianna R. Gould, 24, of Fort Wayne, who was pregnant, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where she later died, according to the Allen County coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office determined that Gould was pregnant with a boy who was of a viable age if born, but died because of a gunshot wound or wounds.

According to Indiana law, a person who “knowingly or intentionally kills a fetus that has attained viability” can be charged with murder. That’s the part of Indiana code noted in the charges.
