Semi driver killed in Allen County crash is identified
A semi tractor-trailer driver who died in a crash with an SUV on Thursday night at West County Line Road and U.S. 30 West has been identified.
Michael Charles Gonsior, 29, of Fort Wayne was found inside the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Gonsior was eastbound on U.S. 30 when his vehicle struck an SUV with a woman and two children inside it; the SUV had the green light while northbound on West County Line Road at around 7:30 p.m., according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department. The semi landed on its side, which caused a diesel fuel leak that shut down the eastbound lanes of U.S. 30 until the scene could be cleared.
Gonsior died from injuries in the crash and his death was ruled an accident by the coroner’s office. His death is the third fatal traffic crash in Allen County in 2018.
The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office.
