Man who robbed International Design florist sought by Fort Wayne Police
The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a robbery suspect seen in surveillance photographs that the department released Tuesday.
At around 11:30 a.m. Monday, the man, who appears to have a red scarf over his face, walked into International Design, 1020 Goshen Road, where he brandished a handgun and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
The man was described as white, wearing sweatpants and a coat and had a silver handgun, according to a police report. A worker said she was scared and had trouble opening the register, which made the man upset. He tried opening the register until he got it open. He was upset not to find more money in the register and when he saw her purse on the chair in the back he demanded money from it, according to the report.
“She said that she told him not to take her money as that was the only money she had,” according to the report. “He said he was sorry and that his children were dying.”
He took her money and ran south from the business.
Anyone who recognizes this suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 260-436-STOP (260-436-7867).
